Nashville, TN – May 17, 2013 – Football fans can combine their love of running with their passion for the hometown team as the Tennessee Titans and Competitor Group, organizers of the St. Jude Country Music Marathon, announce the return of the Titans Back to Football 5k.

The 2013 event will take place at LP Field on Saturday, August 10.

The Titans Back to Football Run invites fans to share in the glory of the gridiron while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle while completing a 5K (3.1 mile) distance. Participants enjoy the opportunity of the lifetime running on the field to finish their race on the 50-yard line at LP Field, home of their beloved Tennessee Titans.

“The return of football season in Tennessee is truly a special feeling of excitement and anticipation and this is a great event for fans to come together and celebrate their team in a positive and healthy way,” said Don MacLachlan, Executive Vice President of the Tennessee Titans. “We’re proud to be part of a series of races that also supports the league’s commitment to healthy families and our PLAY 60 initiative to combat childhood obesity. With the event taking place earlier in August we look forward to more involvement from our players in 2013.”

A post-race tailgate party with live entertainment and a Bud Light Beer Garden will take place after the race and all participants will receive an official race shirt. The event also includes a Titans PLAY 60Fun Run for kids that also finishes on the field.

Registration is offered as part of a ticket bundle package, allowing fans to choose from one of three Titans home games in combination with their race registration for $60. More information is available online at NFLRunSeries.com.

The race is part of the NFL Back to the Football Run Series, which features 5K and 10K races in partnership with the NFL and several of its Member Clubs. 12-14 clubs are expected to hold races in their respective cities in 2013. A majority of the running events will take place in conjunction with the opening weekend of the NFL season and will include Fan Fests, autograph opportunities and NFL skill challenges at each location.

“We’re thrilled to see this series grow and be embraced by more teams around the country as running continues to evolve and reach new participants,” said Tracy Sundlun, SVP of marathon organizer Competitor Group. “The NFL Back to Football Run Series welcomes families and fans of all ages to enjoy a fun day of celebration, while also making the positive choice to get moving and have a healthy lifestyle.”

The Titans Back to Football Run benefits Girls on the Run® (GOTR)Nashville, a 12-week after school program for girls in 3 through 8grade. The program uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
